BASINGSTOKE Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard has made a super signing as he rebuilds his squad for the coming season, with the re-signing of top British defenceman Kurt Reynolds.

The English Premier League all-star player was a key member of the Herd’s double-winning outfit and has signed a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old Basingstoke-born blue liner is the club’s longest serving player. He will return for his seventh straight season in the autumn and has now played more than 300 games for the club.

A former Basingstoke junior player, he joined the Herd in 2008, when they were in the Elite League, and has since played in every Bison EPL campaign.

He picked his highest points return in his career with 20 points last season, hitting the net three times, including the goal that clinched Basingstoke’s place in the EPL Cup final.

Reynolds would have been a great signing for any of the Bison’s league rivals, so the Herd faithful will be really pleased to see him back.

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “We had a very strong D core last season and Kurt is one of the best defenceman in the league, which was proved when he made the all-star team.

“He is a great, well rounded player, who skates and plays the body well and I am delighted to have him back for two more years.”

Reynolds said: “Being a home town lad, I always want to play for Basingstoke and the fans are so great.

“This will take me to eight years with the team. I enjoyed winning trophies this year and want to do it again.”
