AS IT HAPPENED - Basingstoke Town 0-0 Bishop's Stortford
This live event has finished
- FULL-TIME - Basingstoke Town 0-0 Bishop's Stortford
- Few chances in a low-quality end-of-season encounter.
- Hosts drop captain Wes Daly, with Ross Adams coming in.
That's all for me today. Join me again on Tuesday, when I'll be at Gosport Borough.
Town remain 14th in the table going into the final five games of the season.
A post-match interview with Town boss Bristow can be found by clicking here.
Worse news from elsewhere. Basingstoke RFC are relegated after losing 61-21 at home to East Grinstead, while Southampton went down 1-0 at home to struggling Cardiff.
Thank God that's over. A terrible game.
No tempo throughout but Stortford could have nicked it late on. The positives? A clean sheet and a point.
Reaction to follow.
Basingstoke Town 0-0 Bishop's Stortford
90+2 - It took 92 minutes but that's the first real save of the game. Akurang works space for a shot from a long ball and Wells gets down to Palm it away. Not really powerful but a decent opening.
Three minutes of added time for everyone here to endure.
88 - Very nearly a winner for the visitors. Town failed to deal with a free-kick into the box and Akurang has a great chance from 10 yards, but he volleys over.
85 - Bishop's Stortford - Josh Fagbohun on for Ryan Melaugh
Surely Melaugh is injured? Otherwise, that's a really embarrassing moment. He only came on earlier in the half.
82 - That's a nice touch by Ibe and Soares is in behind the defence. He probably should shoot despite the narrow angle but chooses to pull the ball back, and it's cut out.
79 - Now it's the turn of Stortford left-back Johnny Herd to fire miles over.
These teams shared eight goals when they met in Hertfordshire before Christmas, Stortford winning 5-3. Just one would do it today.
76 - That's the closest we've come to a goal. Akurang picked the ball up in the Town area, worked space for a shot against Gasson, and fired narrowly over.
75 - Michael Richens fires miles over. This is awful fare.
71 - Williams lets fly from distance but it's way over.
71 - Wells flaps at a corner and Akurang is up behind him, but he can't keep his header down.
68 - Smart works space for a cross, but it's too high for Williams in the centre.
66 - Soares puts in a low cross that Stortford scramble clear.
This is dreadful at the moment. Blow up now referee.
63 - Melaugh fires in a shot/cross from the left wing, but it's easy for Wells to claim at his near post.
61 - Bit better from Town. Andrew Jenkinson gets space for a shot from distance, but it's miles off-target.
59 - Stortford are on top at the moment and a corner comes in. It seemed to go behind but the assistant doesn't flag and Rice has to hack clear from inside his own six-yard box.
56 - A cross from the left is allowed to go across the face of the Town six-yard box, bouncing in the area.
54 - Bishop's Stortford - Harry Baker and Ryan Melaugh on for Brian Woodall and Luke Milbourne
Bristow remains in the stand for the second half. Really taking a look at the players today.
51 - Poor from Town as they fail to clear their lines. Sam Cutler crosses the ball in and Akurang can only head over.
51 - Kezie Ibe on for Liam Enver-Marum
Enver-Marum is limping and has to go off. Another setback.
49 - Stortford win a couple of corners but can't make anything of them.
46 - Ross Adams - Basingstoke Town
That's soft. Adams is booked for handball. The free-kick is blasted well wide.
Town get the second half up and under way. No changes at the break.
The teams are coming back out for the second half. Will it be any better than the first?
Town didn't really make the most of having the wind behind them in the first half. Will they be made to pay after the break?
Elsewhere, it looks like Basingstoke RFC will be relegated today.
They trail 33-7 at half-time of their final game at home to East Grinstead, needing a win to have any chance of staying up.
Southampton are drawing 0-0 at home to Cardiff.
Live coverage of both games can be found elsewhere on this site.
A classic end-of-season game between two mid-table sides. No tempo and most of the play in midfield. Not great to watch.
Basingstoke Town 0-0 Bishop's Stortford
45 - Luke Milbourne lets fly from the edge of the Town area, but he's under pressure from Adams and fires way over the crossbar.
44 - That's Bishop's Storford's first real effort, Brian Woodall heading a cross from the right wide at the far post.
Town are enjoying plenty of possession, but it's mainly in their own half. There's a big gap between the defensive and attacking players.
37 - Williams plays Soares in down the left channel but his low shot goes across the face of the Stortford goal and wide.
31 - Green flashes a low cross across the six-yard box, but it's too far ahead of Enver-Marum.
Bit of a stalemate at the moment, but Town look good on the ball and only hard work from the visitors is stopping them getting into dangerous areas. They could pay for that later.
Town boss Jason Bristow has decided to sit in the stands in this first half. Gives him a better view.
20 - More good play from Smart down the right. His low cross finds Enver-Marum, whose low effort is dragged wide. Decent from Town.
19 - Stortford fail to deal with Smart's ball in and it drops to Soares. He probably should have hit it first time, but takes a touch and can only lift a delicate lob well over.
17 - The free-kick is worked to Soares, whose low shot is comfortably kept out by Wright diving to his left.
16 - Callum McNaughton - Bishop's Stortford
Town break dangerously but McNaughton stops them illegally, blocking a through-ball with his arm and picking up a booking.
11 - But nothing comes of it. Stortford look ill at ease when it comes to defending set pieces though.
11 - Enver-Marum does well to win his side a corner.
The wind is pretty strong. Town could do with making the most of it in the first half.
9 - A Stortford player is down getting treatment. Looks like he will be okay to continue though.
6 - Good play by Smart and Manny Williams down the left but the striker's cross goes behind for a corner.
4 - Stortford make a mess of defending Green's ball in, with Joe Wright flapping at an attempted punch and a clearance sent high into the air. They escape though.
3 - Smart's low ball in finds Enver-Marum, but his effort is blocked by Sean Francis out for a corner.
Looks like it's 3-5-2 for Town, with Adam Green and Nathan Smart playing as wing-backs.
Stortford get us under way.
Minute's silence observed impeccably. Now, it's time to get the game started.
Town must have won the toss. Looks like they will shoot towards the Town End in the first half.
The players make their way out for the pre-match rituals.
It's a sunny but windy day, with a chill in the air. The wind will be behind the team shooting towards the Town End of the ground.
Another player who could be on his way out of the Camrose this summer is Jordace Holder-Spooner. He's not even on the bench today.
He clearly has bags of talent, but we've not seen the best of him.
Change to the Bishop's Stortford team. Jake Hall can't play today as he is suspended, so Luke Milbourne steps up from the bench.
Stortford will only have four substitutes as a result.
Right, time to take my seat in the press box.
Elsewhere, away from Basingstoke, Southampton are hosting Cardiff City in the Premier League. Follow that live here.
Just up the road at Down Grange, it's a massive afternoon for Basingstoke RFC.
They host East Grinstead knowing that they must win to have any chance of avoiding relegation from National Three London. Even a victory might not be enough though.
Follow that match live here.
Sadly, I've just heard a rumour that David Ray's Achilles injury may be worse than first feared. He might be out for five months, but I'll get to the bottom of that later.
The other disappointing thing to note about the Town team is the absence of striker Nicholas Bignall, who has looked a handful in the games he has played. Hopefully, he won't be out for too long.
Basingstoke Town: Wells, Rice, Green, Jenkinson, Gasson, Adams, Smart, McAuley, Enver-Marum, Williams, Soares. Subs: Matthews, Ibe, Daly, Johnson-Schuster, Barrett.
Bishop's Stortford: Wright, Richens, Herd, Francis, McNaughton, Hall, Johnson, Cutler, Woodall, Akurang, Prestledge. Subs: Baker, Melaugh, Fagbohun, Milbourne, Cowler.
One change for Town, and it's an intriguing one. Captain Wes Daly drops to the bench and centre-back Ross Adams comes in, with Robbie Rice moving to right-back and Nathan Smart into midfield.
Could this mean that Daly's time at the Camrose is coming to an end? We'll see. Jay Gasson will captain the side in his absence.
In attack, Liam Enver-Marum lines up against his former club. He will have a point to prove today.
The visitors attack is led by Cliff Akurang, who has been around the block a few times.
Town go into today's game in 14th place, with Stortford four points and two places above them. A real end-of-season mid-table battle. Let's hope the pressure is off and we get a good game.
Still waiting for the teamsheets. I'll let you know who's playing as soon as I know.

Just in case you were wondering, today's game, like many up and down the country, will kick off seven minutes late to mark the 25th anniversary of the Hillsbrough disaster.
Six minutes are because the match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was halted after six minutes. There will then be a one minute silence.
Good afternoon and welcome to live text coverage from the Camrose, where Basingstoke Town are hosting Bishop's Stortford in the Conference South.
