Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of title-chasing Manchester City's Barclays Premier League clash with Saints tomorrow.

The Argentina striker, City's top scorer this season with 26, has returned to training after missing four games with a hamstring injury but is not yet match-fit.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini had previously expressed hope the 25-year-old might be ready for Saints' visit to the Etihad Stadium, but next week's trip to title rivals Liverpool is now the target.

Pellegrini said: "Sergio is okay. He has worked just now with the squad but he just started on Thursday, so he needs more work to be 100 per cent fit.

"He is not in the squad but he doesn't have any problems with his injury.

"For this week it is too soon for him to start playing because he just worked two days, but next week against Liverpool he will not have any problems."

City are also still without defender Matija Nastasic, who suffered a knee injury two months ago.

Pellegrini, speaking at a press conference to preview the Saints match, was unwilling to confirm reports new contract talks have begun with midfielder Samir Nasri.

The Chilean said: "We are just thinking about this match we have to play against Southampton.

"All the other things - you are always talking and thinking and working - but in this moment it is not the most important thing."

City head into the game third in the table, trailing leaders Liverpool by four points but with two games in hand.

As if it makes a difference! they seem to be doing alright without him anyway.
But I'm confident, that after last weeks demolition of the toon army, the confidence will be high, and city will be nervous because they are going for the title and can't afford any slip ups, that we might just sneak a win.

Aguero is a class act on the pitch as was Maradona his father-in-law although granted he was a little flawed off it. Imagine the football genes running through young Sergio Junior ..... get him into our academy system waiting list right now.

Looking forward to this game as we will be given the space to play to our strengths. Yaya is the jewel in their crown, from what I have seen of them this year he starts off in a defensive midfield role and is unleashed into his most dangerous attacking role in the last third of the game.
We have enough quality to have a right good go at it.

COYR .... England and half of Merseryside and West London expects, not forgetting 95% of Hampshire.

I will just be happy with a great Saints performance. Another chance for the England boys to show what they can do against top opposition. I think it will be a close game but my head says City will nick it 2-1. My heart can see Saints run them ragged with a couple of early goals from Jay Rod and Lallana see City shell shocked but them to make a late comeback into the game drawing 2-2 from a long range Toure finish and a Dzeko tap in!

Did we forget the World Cup handball with Maradona? That speaks to character more than anything! Don't see Aguero cursed with the same lack of class.

Ha, believe me my San Diego compadre I could never forget that. What I can say is that Maradona and come to think of it Suarez fit the same mould of football genius and they are normally flawed characters. I’ll throw in George Best, Paul Gascoigne and I’m sure we could name many more. What they have in bucket loads is genius and you have to accept the warts and all. Are you saying you wouldn’t want such a world class talent in our team?

Anyway, if that useless skunt Terry Fenwick had laid a proper tackle against Maradona we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

With the possibility of the skates getting a £1,000,000 windfall, if Liverpool win the Prem, there may actually be a few more tha 95% of Hampshire wanting us to win.

Wel that's blown my forecast. I thought he might get a goal. I'm off to the bookies to see if they will let me change it from 1-4 to 0-4.

He's just running scared. Doesn't want to be shown up by our superior defence. I reckon, by noon tomorrow, Kompany and Toure will have gone down with man flu and both goalies will have dropped out with tennis elbow. :)
