Saints will go to Manchester City this weekend with the belief they can win.

City have a hugely impressed record at the Etihad with victories in 45 of their last 52 home league matches and just three defeats. They have scored 144 times in that period with only 36 conceded.

However, Saints have one win and one draw against City, both at St Mary’s, since Mauricio Pochettino took charge of the club and the manager is in buoyant mood following the 4-0 hammering of Newcastle last weekend.

“We always have the belief that we are going to win,” said Pochettino.

“We have the belief in every single game that we are going to win.

“We know we are going to be facing a very tough side in Manchester City, a side that is definitely a candidate to win in the Premier League and are one of the best teams in England and Europe.

“Despite that we are still going with the belief that we are going to play our game and we are going to get something out of that game.”

He added: “I have been at the Eithad watching other games and we know we are going to be facing a group of fans who are fully behind their team and will be pressuring us as much as they can.

“We are going there with a clear idea to play our game, to play our style, and also to try to maintain if we can maintain the high standards that we showed against Newcastle.

“We are going with the mentality to play a very good game against a very tough side.”

This is much of what I like about Mauricio. As well as him being an excellent coach and man manager, he has great optimism, which is infectious to the players.

Onward and upward for Mauricio Pochettino and all our Saints!

Gotta love Poch.

I actually think this is pretty good time to play Citeh at theirs. They simply have to beat us or the title will probably go to Liverpool. All the pressure is on them. We can play with some freedom, If we can keep their midfield at bay, then I think we may just be able to surprise a few people.
Huge game for our England hopefuls, hope they enjoy it.

Agree,it has the potential to be a really great game;City having to win,and Saints with nothing to lose.

Dear Mr Poch.
We have some doom mongers on one of the other threads regarding our chances tomoro. Could you please confirm if we will definitely win this game. Do you expect to win or do you merely hope to win. Your clarification in this matter would be very much appreciated. You see a number of fans really dont want to travel all that way in the expectation of winning only to find that we only get a draw.

well I expect that expectations of MP`s expectation of winning will be exceptionally high. there are some fans whos expectations are that they expect us to lose, I take exception to those expectations and fully expect that MP`s expectations of a good game, against a team that has high expectations of winning the tittle, are exceptional.

I enjoyed our last visit to City when, as new boys , we gave them quite a fright although we eventually lost. I'll never forget Rickie coming on and scoring his first Premiership goal. What a moment that was. Hopefully we can give them another good game on Saturday. Really looking forward to it.

The bonus should only be 10% of 10% of the original amount, to reflect their two administrations, in which they screwed over so many people.
That would be fair and I wouldn't be left with a nasty taste in my mouth, were we to help Liverpool win the league.

This is a valid point. The contract between Liverpool and Skates was pre the last two Admins and therefore any monies falling due should go to the creditors of the first Admin. I believe that particular insolvency was for £170m so only pennies in the pound but better than going to the Truss.

It was fantastic last year. Of course we can beat them, anyone can beat anyone in this league, see Palace v Chelsea. I'm not saying we should expect to but the chances are far far better than 10-1. Same team as last week and we're half way there. Come on Saints!!
