NATHAN Moss grabbed a hattrick as Basingstoke under-18 Bison finished their season in style with a 9-4 win over visiting Peterborough.

Lewis Jennings opened the scoring at 5:44, before the visitors soon levelled.

A brace of powerplay strikes from Elliott Dewey and Moss, both assisted by Max Florey, made it 3-1 at the first break.

The second session saw Paul Petts extend the lead, before Peterborough struck back with three unanswered goals to tie the game.

The Bison hit back as Hallam Wilson gave them the lead at the second buzzer.

The final session belonged to the home side as they added four more to their tally.

Petts got the first and then picked up his third assist of the game on Alex Sampford’s strike.

This was the first of three goals in the space of 31 seconds as Moss netted the other two with Jake Edwards getting assists on both goals.

The under-16 Bison completed a quick double over Peterborough as they won 3-1 away after a 6-1 victory on home ice a week earlier.

The young Herd’s win in Peterborough saw them score a goal in each period, thanks to their special teams.

Their first came from Steven Radcliff shorthanded and then Josh Richards netted another shorthanded marker from Florey and Connor Hutchinson.

The young Herd’s final goal was a powerplay strike from Florey, assisted by netminder Jordan Lawday.

In the home game, Wilson led the scoring with a hat-trick, while there were single strikes from Christopher Hocquigny, Jason Cheesbrough and Joseph Mitchell.

There were singles assists for Connor Mears, Sam Compton, George Gill, Florey and Richards.
