Alan Pardew and Andre Marriner will both be welcomed at St Mary’s this weekend.

Former Saints boss Pardew is back in the stands for the latest part of his well publicised ban while Marriner will officiate the game against Newcastle at St Mary’s following his red card howler in the game between Arsenal and Chelsea.

“It’s the same thing in the game against Tottenham. There were some individual mistakes we made and the priority is not to punish the players that made the mistakes,” said Pochettino of Marriner.

“It’s a similar comparison. We have full trust in the referees and we know that it’s a very difficult job to do and to do well.

“I’m not really one to analyse the referee’s performance before the game.”

Of Pardew he added: “I don’t think it will have a positive or negative effect.

“In these past few games we have seen a Newcastle side that has won games and lost games.

“What will happen in this game will happen with or without Pardew in the dressing room.”
