BASINGSTOKE Town are offering a cut-price chance to come and see them play on Saturday as they entertain Conference South basement side Dorchester Town.

The Dragons are looking to put on a show and in the last week have signed two new strikers in Nicholas Bignall and Liam Enver-Marum, who will be eager find the back of the net.

The admission to Saturday’s game is pay- what-you-like at the gate and there will also be reduced drinks prices in the clubhouse (noon-6pm). Basingstoke Town general manager and director Sarah Parsons said: “This game is a gesture to the whole town and outlying districts.

“We are giving something back to the community by allowing people to come to the match for a price which they decide.” She added: “We will open our doors to everybody to spend the day with us, and in the clubhouse afterwards. We really want to say to people to come and see us, old fans and new fans, everybody is welcome.”

With hopefully a bumper crowd to cheer them on,Town will be looking to get to winning ways and also score a few goals.

With this in mind experienced striker Enver- Marum has joined from Bishop’s Stortford this week, hot on the heels of former Reading forward Bignall, who made his debut last Saturday.

Bignall came through the ranks at Reading, making four appearances and scoring twice for his hometown club. He also enjoyed spells at a host of other clubs, including Brentford and Bournemouth. He was released by the Royals last summer after suffering two years of injury problems.

Enver-Marum in recent years has played for Ebbsfleet, where he scored 24 goals in 68 appearances for the Kent side.

The 26-year-old started the season at Braintree, before making the switch to Bishop’s Stortford.

Basingstoke Town boss Jason Bristow is delighted with his two additions and said: “It is no secret we have been creating the chances, but not scoring the goals.

“These players are going to help us in this department.”

Saturday’s visitors Dorchester lost 6-0 at Eastleigh on Tuesday night, a game Bristow watched and he said: “They started brightly until Eastleigh scored two quick goals and then their heads went down. “I will be looking to select a high energy attacking side and we will look to do the same on Saturday.”

Striker Manny Williams is 50-50 for the game, while Simon Dunn is definitely ruled out due to injury.

On Tuesday, Basingstoke’s game against Concord was postponed due to a water logged pitch. A new date has yet to be announced.
