WHITCHURCH United suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Fareham in the Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday.
The home side had an early chance cleared off the line, but the score remained 0-0 after 45 minutes.
Luke Walker went close for the Jam Boys after the break, but the home goalie pushed away his curling free-kick.
Fareham took the lead on 73 minutes which turned out to be the winner.
Whitchurch went looking for an equaliser as Scott Hassell’s shot from distance went just over and Nick Turpin volleyed wide late on.
The Jam Boys will look to bounce back to winning ways tonight, when they entertain Moneyfields at Longmeadow in their next league outing.
