I'm on firstrow sports. At the moment, it's highlights from yesterday.

You might need to get rid of some adverts. The best way seems to be to wait till the football comes up behind the ads, then click the yellow CLICK HERE button and some ads disappear. Then look for tiny crosses to remove the ads, or just open them and, before they come up fully, turn them off.

Once you have the chance to go full screen, do that.

Good luck!

What a fantastic interview on Sky with England world cup hopefuls Jay, Rickie, Adam and Luke. There was a time when a build up to this fixture would have been about the spuds and not our excellent team.

Shame Clyne wasn't with them. In many ways I expected him to have a better chance than Shaw purely because of those available in their respective positions.

nice to see jack starting I`m a lot more confident now than when I thought all three CM`s were out.

if anyone who isn't watching on sky, try to find the interview with SRL, J-rod, Lalla and Luke. it was a great watch and showed their pride and passion for playing for saints and England. SRL said again that he will be happy for any saints player who goes to the world cup, even if he doesn't.

Decent first half. Shaky at the back but our England set (plus an ever-impressive Davis) have all been superb. Once again, the interplay between Jay, Adam and Rickie has been outstanding and Cork and JWP have done a good holding job against the only area that Spuds have any decent players - midfield.

Pity about Nat's error. Was Dejan fouled? Just seen it again, it's right in front of the lino and his arm is definitely being held. Foul? Yes, but it does happen all the time in football. Disappointing, yes, but maybe Dejan should have been stronger.

Make no bones I like Fonte he has been a fantastic servant to the club and is a thoroughly decent person..however I am pi55ed off.

..yet this season as with seasons before his and Hooiveld's woeful clearances and poor heading have cost us many points…

The moment he headed it when there was no need I knew they would score..

I am not looking for a new scapegoat as I have complained since L1 of our defenders inability to direct a header a la Bruce, Pallister, Adams, Campbell, MeKeown nor because of this produce enough headed goals from set pieces..what do they do on the training ground?

Such a blöödy shame…we are now finding the net and our defence repays by simply conceeding even more…lessons have NOT been learned from the Norwich game.

Saints play great football for 30 mins....possession 75% ,passing 88% ,attacking 81%... Then turn to utter garbage ...possession 28% ,passing 12% ,attacking 18%.

I knew when 2-0 up we would lose 3-2 and said 30 seconds before the 3rd goal they would score.

Match fixing seriously needs looking at as what with boruc always doing "Dodgy" things and saints doing the same old story its pretty obvious theres eomthing up.....download the full match and watch carefully...you can even see when we start fixing the game.

Shame i used to like football but after this season im not going to bother !!

We lost 3-2' what's to be positive about or are you the positive police!!
1. We have a very talented young squad.
2. We have more points than at this stage of any previous Premiership season (or, since the mid-89s if you prefer).
3. We were battered second half (which is very disappointing) but we weathered the storm and looked the most likely winner until the late strike.
4. We were superb for 30 minutes - or have you forgotten that?
5. This won't cost us our Premiership status but might turn into a blessing in disguise if, before ths start of next season, the team can use it (and other similar matches this season) to learn that NO lead is safe enough to take the collective foot off the pedal.

Are you the negative police? Nothing wrong with criticism, but how about looking for some balance.

You are spot on, the Rose tackle on Chambers 2nd half would normally been a yellow too. Sadly we missed Spider big time and just when we needed 100% from Dejan he was way off the mark, last weeks injury could have taken its toll. I don't think we had a lot of luck and a couple of dubious decisions turned the game. We should have taken advantage of the worst offside trap we had ever come across. On the day we weren't good enough. Who are we playing next?

It was more that we lost the game than Tottenham won the game and there was help from the referee. Newcastle (as you probably realise), a game we have to win to hope to finish 8th that being as high as we can realistically achieve this season. The defence should use this game to sort out their problems otherwise Man City will have a field day the following week. Two games - 5 defensive errors - 5 goals against. Man City, if on song, will eat the defence alive if similar errors occur at the Eithad Stadium.

That kind of says it all about our season, we have been very good in a lot of games but only for periods. We are not capable with the current squad of closing a game out after getting our noses in front and we just dont learn from our mistakes. We have been doing this all season, making silly defensive or midfield errors and we dont learn anything because in the next game we do it again. God knows how many points we would have had if we could stop games when we are in front! What the hell are they working on in training all friggin week because it cant be defence or goal keeper kicking. I am really disapointed with the way our season is petering out and there will have to be a big improvement for next season.

Strangely, I don't think we did miss Spider.
Davis, JWP and (especially) Cork were very good, today.
Our problems really stemmed from the 2nd goal, which unsettled the whole team, with too many making wrong choices on the ball. But despite all the Spurs possession, our midfield three did well.
Agree with those above, slating Fonte's weak header, for the winner. I was screaming for him to leave it for Boruc to claim. Having said that, I'm not sure Boruc saw it as his ball!

in November everyone was banging on about how we are going to qualify for the Champions League. Still relatively early on in the season. Now, we have let in 4 sloppy goals in the last 2 matches and have constantly lost points from winning positions this season. A team who does that does not qualify for the Champions League.

One positive we can ttake from that game is Spurs will now take there eye of Mr P.
their eye! one t in take! lol. Couldn't resist it! At least you aren't slagging Poch off! Just another bad day at Office. Now, I am all grumpy again I would have been happy with a draw as I didn't expect us to get that even, negative I know, but it happens so often that I have kind got hardened to it. Move on, who have we got next and how do we go about defeating them? Newcastle is it not? Can we upset AP and get a good result?

That was very hard to take, we were completely in charge for most of the first half, then their goal (from our mistakes) seemed to make us edgy and further sapped our confidence, so the mistakes increased.
However, I thought by the end we were good for the draw at least, so to lose it like that was annoying to say the least.
So will it make a difference to our season? Not really, would have liked to overtake NUFC into 8th, but realistically all the players have to get excited about now is whether they can do enough to get into their respective international squad's for Rio.
We're not going much higher than 8th this season with this squad, no matter what message the players put out from the official Saints press announcements!
But hey, it's still been a great season, and the fact that I can feel a little disappointed with being only being 8th/9th shows how far we have progressed.

What a horribly predictable outcome. I'm old enough to vividly remember us leading Spurs 2-0 at The Dell before Ronnie Rosenthal came on as a half time sub and Spurs won 6-2......still it shows how far we've come that there are so many disappointed fans after an away defeat to a Champions-league chasing team (they wish). Fantastic season though, keep the faith, like many teams in this league I believe we're only 2 new players away from a top 6 side but probably in danger of bottom 6 if we lost the wrong two (Spider, Shaw or Adam). My 7 year old son tells me we'll win the league if we add Kompany and Courtois in the summer.......!

A right downer of course today. But after imagining that yesterday I was a Cardiff, Sunderland, Fulham or W Brom fan I cheered up a lot. Then I imagined I was a Palace fan losing in the last kick at Newcastle and my blessings soared higher still.

Whilst we're a long where from where I'd love to be, we're a long way from where I'd dread to be.

Yup - it's been a good season and - even today - us Saints should be happy.

Spuds got amongst us with a high back line and we couldn't handle it in the 2nd half. As a club we need to agree on where we want to go, have we the resources to compete with the big boys? Is mopo the right man for the job? I would love stability but his signings and selections do confuse at times, say that he does appear to have full backing from players. Can he get the best out of Ramirez? Who definately is gifted. To all the 'happy clappers, agreed we are safe and top 10 is good but haven't we thrown a lot away?

Late '80s? It was the FA Cup last 16 and a place against Liverpool at Anfield beckoned.

Gerry Frances was the Spuds' boss. He brought Ronnie on near the end of the first half while we were two up and still totally outplaying them.

Then .......

....... second half we hardly got a kick, 2-2 at full time and 4 added in extra time.

I was thinking of that match.

We've know worse days than this and, no doubt, we'll know others, but I doubt if we'll ever be propped up by Torquay United and Northampton Town.
I also remember us leading them 3-0 at the break only for Ossie Ardiles to take control and turn the game into a 3-3 draw. Then there was the one where it was 1-1 going into the last minute. We won a penalty, Keegan missed, Spurs broke and Archibald won it. Then there was the game at WHL where Spurs needed to win to equal the record for most home wins on the trot at the start of a season. We were holding them at 1-1 into the last few minutes, one of the Allen boys ran through on goal, Tim Flowers beat him to the ball and knocked it off his foot and behind for a corner, Allen fell over Flowers and the ref gave a penalty - 2-1.

Thank heavens for that 4-0 thrashing we gave them in the 2003 Cup run and the Beattie strike at WHL that got Hoddle the sack and the 5-2 and 5-0 hidings back in the day ......

Today's result is the perfect example as to why we need to hang on to all our young stars and not sell any of them. The squad needs to be strengthened not weakened. We can give anyone a good game but against Spurs at White Hart Lane something bizarre always happens in the dying minutes to send us down to a frustrating defeat. This bizarre trend goes all the way back to the 60s. We also can't beat the Arse, or Chelsea or West Ham away from home, or Man U away from. What happened today will likely happen away to Citeh. And there is a good chance it will happen at home to United on the last day of the season. Immediate needs are to get MP signed to an extension. During the summer we cannot afford to sell the likes of Shaw etc. We need another quality center back and striker and I wouldn't be opposed to finding another goalie. Boruc hasn't been bad but of late he is not making the 'Big' stop.

A great match for the neutral. .An exasperating match for us Saints fans.
For the first 30 minutes we were superb and played some fantastic football. We were well worth ourv 2-0 lead.
But alas yet again the team was unable to hold on to a lead.I can not fault the effort of the 14 Saints players who got on the pitch today. The fault was more with the system and the managers inability to come up with a plan B when we are under the cosh.
The rookie manager Tim Sherwood yet again showed MP how to tacticaly tweak a starting formation. His substitutions had a more direct effect on the match than MP'S..After the 90 odd minutes Spurs had acheived the double over Saints.Just as Mourinho outwitted MP in two matches this season so did Tiger TIM.
If Spurs are stupid enough to get rid of Sherwood at the end of the season and MP is disloyal enough to go to White Hart Lane then I would like to see Sherwood given a chance at St Marys. He has a good track record working with young players and the passion he shows on the touchline reminds me of a fiery Alan Ball.
I know a lot of fans dont like talking about MP seeking pastures new but personally iI think it would be a negative move on his part to give in to the overtures of a so called bigger club.-The two Milan clubs have been mentioned, along with Spurs nearer to home, and the mighty Real Madrid.I think at the present moment in his career he would be out of his depth at any of those clubs.Tactically he has to be a lot more aware than he is at the moment.Plus all the clubs mentioned wouldn't give him the time if he embarked on a series of frustrating defeats which has unfortunately dogged him this season when well established winning positions have been overturned by often lesser talented teams.
Kreuger and the new Saints board must back MP to the hilt -both regarding the negotiations of a new contract for him-And By sending out a clear message that none of the 14 players who featured today are for sale and also by making a sizeable transfer war chest available to him close season to really propel the team up to the next level. This aggressive buying policy must be matched by an equally decisive weeding out of the deadwood players.
So what positions need strengthening
1. A top international quality goal keeper to challenge Boruc if not to take over from him as the club's top keeper.
2. A world class central defender to boss the defence the way Dave Watson used to during the halycon days of Lawrie Mac.-Louvren has struggled a bit in recent matches and needs to cut out the silly mistakes which cost us dear today.
3. A truly dynamic central midfield player who can rally the team when we are under the cosh.Such leadership was sadly lacking through much of the second half today.CORK,WARD-PROW
SE,WANNYAMA, AND MORGAN S are all important players but to progress we need somebody even more special who not only leads by example but also finds the back of the net on a regular basis.
4.A fast tricky international class wide player who is capable of getting to the bye-line and whipping in accurate crosses a la John Sydenham of old and who is also capable of cutting inside and scorring ten or more goals a season.-Today Spurs wing play carved out several chances. Our full backs might be good at getting forward along the flanks but at the end of the day they are defenders not out and out wingers.
5.A top striker who will challenge Jay Rod and Lambert and who will help Sam Gallagher in his strikers education.
OK EASIER SAID THAN DONE MAYBE.BECAUSE IN RECENT SEASONS SOUTHAMPTON'S RECORD IN THE TRANSFER MARKET HASN'T BEEN TOO CLEVER.
When we won promotion from Division 1 JACK CORK was a fantastic signing.Others served their purpose of getting the club back to the promised land of the premiership but lets face it the likes of Danny Fox Jos H and GULY DO PRADO are not top level week in week out players.
Tadanari Lee came to the club in a blaze of publicity and may have helped sell a few shirts in the Land of the Rising Sun but on the pitch apart from that cracking goal he scored against Derby he was not value for money.
Billy Sharp scored several important goals for us in the championship but was never given a chance at the top level and his high wages has discouraged lower league clubs from buying him..Regarding the wages issue Lee Barnard was given in hindsight a too long a contract by Cortese when he was unable to establish himself in the championship let alone the premier league. And as for Jonathan Forte i shall let others comment on his performances for the Saints.
And what of the players bought in since we have been back at the top level.
Jay Rod has been a resounding success after a hesitant start.Steve Davis has been a real gem of a signing who has really come good under MP.
Ramirez is still a bit of an enigma but in recent weeks he has looked a premiership quality player but when will we see him turn on his undoubted international class for a full 90 minutes.
MOOT POINT HAS HE EVER PLAYED A FULL 90 MINUTES FOR THE SAINTS.
Yoshida has had his moments both good and bad but he is a fighter and can battle it out when needs must.
Mayuka was another player who came to the club in a blaze of publicity having won the Golden boots award in The Africa Cup of Nations. But his chances have been limited at the club. The only time when he excited was against Spurs last season at ST MARYS when he caused their defence all sorts of problems.
THE QUESTION WITH MAYUKA THOUGH IS WILL WE EVER SEE HIM IN A SAINTS SHIRT AGAIN.
Boruc had a shaky start at the club but apart from a few blips and out right clangers he is worth retaining.

The signing of the Norwegan centre half Voron was a complete farce nearly up there with Ali Diyah-George Weah's cousin who never was.
Victor Wanyama started his Saints career ok but injury has cut his season short.I think the jury is still out on him..
Louvren has shown that he is atop class defender but as I said above he has looked out of sorts recently.
OSVALDO =well the less said about him the better. But he is proof that you have got to get the transfers into the club right.
Well rant nearly over. What MP has got to do in the short term is rally the troops and get the 3 points next week v the Toon. Then go on and make sure neither Everton or Villa do a chelki or spurs and achieve the double against the SAINTS.
6 POINTS AGAINST THE SOUTH WALES CONTINGENT OF CARDIFF AND SWANSEA.AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL SHOW NO MERCY AGAINST EITHER OF THE MANCHESTER CLUBS BY WINNING BOTH THOSE GAMES.
COYR THE ONLY WAY NOW IS UP.

I was thinking of that match.

We've know worse days than this and, no doubt, we'll know others, but I doubt if we'll ever be propped up by Torquay United and Northampton Town.

once again I find myself asking how we lost that game, although the answer was staring me in the face Clyne slightly unfortunate, Lovren looking for a free kick instead of just putting the ball in touch and Boruc not commanding his area for the umpteenth time ths season On the plus side in my forty years of supporting the saints I dont think i have ever seen them playing better than of late

A truly dynamic central midfield player who can rally the team when we are under the cosh.Such leadership was sadly lacking through much of the second half today.CORK,WARD-PROW SE,WANNYAMA, AND MORGAN S are all important players but to progress we need somebody even more special who not only leads by example but also finds the back of the net on a regular basis.
I was thinking of that match.

We've know worse days than this and, no doubt, we'll know others, but I doubt if we'll ever be propped up by Torquay United and Northampton Town.
Late 80's?

1995 I think!

I remember it well, I felt my world was falling apart when Rosenthal turned into Ronaldo and Messi rolled into one for a night. Then my cat died the next day.

That was a 10 out of 10 gutted, today is only a 7.

COYR THE ONLY WAY NOW IS UP.[/p]
Sorry I had to stop reading after about half a dozen lines, I was reaching for the Samaritan phone, then I thought, nah it's not worth it. I'll get over this game and move on to the next one.[/p]
open your mind and you might find the answer[/p]
I might. OSPREYSAINT

Well said mate - yeah, we've had some frustrations this season, personally I put it down to the collective inexperience at this level of the game, from both players and manager. But stick with them - they will improve, and these niggles will be ironed out.

There's a lot of reminiscing on this thread about when we can recall being so good - I started going to the Dell as a youngster in the late 80s, and that was the last time I can really recall an extended period when we were a force to be reckoned with, as we have the potential to be now. Overall, I think we can all be pretty pleased with the direction and focus from everyone at our club.
