MORGAN Schneiderlin has claimed he “one day” wants to play for a “great club”.

The in-form Saints midfielder has been quoted in the French media regarding his long-term future.

Schneiderlin, who has been at St Mary’s since 2008, is currently under contract until 2017.

The only two members of the current first team squad who have longer contracts are Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw, who are under contract until 2018.

Schneiderlin has long been linked with Arsenal, and it is believed Arsene Wenger was keen on the player prior to him joining Saints from Strasbourg as an 18-year-old.

When asked by the French media about the Gunners, the player is reported to have said: “Arsenal? I have a three year contract, then it will not be easy.

“It is also my dream to one day play in a great club, so why not?”

Schneiderlin, however, praised Saints in the same interview with Foot Mercato.

“The club wants to grow,” he said.

“We will try to finish as high as possible to continue like this for a long time.”
