BASINGSTOKE Bison wrap up their league campaign with a trip to Swindon and then a home game against Milton Keynes this weekend.

The Herd will then focus on the play-offs which start a week on Saturday, when the Herd will face the seventh-placed team in the standings, which at the moment is Sheffield Steeldogs.

As the Herd can finish no higher than second, it could well mean a few players are rested ahead of the play-off campaign.

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “It is a fine line of making sure everyone keeps their sharpness, but if we can rest some players in each game, we might well do this.”

One player who will not be rested is netminder Dean Skinns, who has played in every game this season and will become the first player in the club’s history to play every minute in goal for a league campaign.

Sheppard said: “Deano is a player who keeps his sharpness by playing, so he will start both games.”

Saturday’s opponents Swindon were in action at Sheffield last night and are still trying to wrestle fifth place away from Telford Tigers.

They lead the Bison 3-2 in league meetings this season, and former Bison goalie Stevie Lyle has reeled off three straight shut-outs. It is going to be a tough trip, with the action getting under way at 5.45pm.

On Sunday night (face-off 6.30pm), the Herd will look to finish at home with a win against MK, who will finish fourth in the table.
