READING slipped out of the Championship play-off places, after they drew 0-0 with visiting third placed Derby County on Saturday.
The Royals were looking for their fourth home win on the trot, but a scrappy affair so few chances.
Craig Forsyth went close for Derby in the first-half, from a nice feed from Jamie Ward.
After the break, Reading had the better of the game, as Job McAnuff and Adam Le Fondre went close.
Royals’ boss Nigel Adkins said: "Derby are a strong side. We looked to nullify them as they looked to nullify us. I thought we were really strong in the second half. We missed quite a few chances but that's the way it happens sometimes."
Next for Reading is a trip to Birmingham City on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
