Saints duo set to miss out

Basingstoke Gazette: Victor Wanyama Victor Wanyama

Saints are set to be without Jack Cork and Victor Wanyama for this afternoon’s game against Norwich.

Cork is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks after suffering an ankle injury in last Saturday’s win at Crystal Palace.

Wanyama, pictured left. had been due to replace him today, but he sustained a knock in training on Wednesday.

That makes James Ward-Prowse the most likely candidate to partner Morgan Schneiderlin in the holding midfield role.

Wanyama has only recently returned from two months out of action, following a hairline fracture in his leg.

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed that the Kenyan’s latest injury is in the same area.

“He had a knock in the same region as the previous injury,” he said.

“He does have some pain right there in the same region. We need to evaluate more than anything his fitness in terms of playing.”

Kelvin Davis also continues to miss out with a hamstring issue.

CORKIE AND WANYAMA INJURED - THIS IS WHY WE MUST CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OUR STRENGTH IN DEPTH.

AND WE ARE.

IT IS NOT A CASE OF CLYNE OR CHAMBERS. BOTH ARE NEEDED.

GETTING A TOP KEEPER TO CHALLENGE ARTUR BORUC MUST BE BETTER THAN HOW WE ARE DOING IT NOW (No disrespect to Kelvin) AND THE CONTINUED DISAPPOINTMENTS IN THE CUP.

KASPAR SCHMEICHEL - YES PLEASE !!

WE ARE THE MIGHTY SOUTHAMPTON.

I's time to shape up Victor. Get out there and go through the pain. You're supposed to be tough.

Yes of course......and how many games did you play at the top level carrying an injury 'Dick'?

You must not criticise him on here, you will get flamed, and 'thumbs down' a plenty.

My view is that we have to be on our toes today, Norwich need a result much more than we do, it will probably not be good to watch, unless we can impose our class from the kick off and not let them into the game. We should win this one if everything is right in our World.

Well, we started out OK but at 3 0 we dropped a couple of clangers, then Dejan had his rung! Good result in the end, nice of Norwich to keep the game interesting but we have to guard against these self inflicted wounds. I thought the Referee was our friend!
