Training ground 'priority' pleases Poch

Basingstoke Gazette: Training ground 'priority' pleases Poch Training ground 'priority' pleases Poch

Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed the statement from the newly-formed Saints board that completing the development at the training ground is their number-one priority.

Work on the reported £30m revamp at Staplewood is still to be completed, with chairman Ralph Krueger saying this week that finishing the project is now the key focus.

Pochettino said: “It is really important that the new training ground is finalised.

“It is very important for this football club – a club that develops young talent, develops football players and, right now, the infrastructure is not as comfortable as we would want.

“It is not comfortable for the first-team, or any of the teams in the academies.

“It is a main priority for this football club to get the new training ground finalised and to make life a lot more comfortable for all the teams at this football club.

“And also to make the training ground as good as this football club deserves.”

Drove past Staplewood yesterday afternoon and there was a lot of activity, hi-vis everywhere. Compared with other occasions when the site was like a ghost town, and constant reports of issues, it looks like the new Board is true to its word. Respect NC for what he did for our club but things move. Let's hope these guys can support Poch, sort out his contract like they are sorting the training facilities, and take us to the next level

Who is the contractor? They're taking for ever. And where did £30m come from, I thought it was £15m.

didn`t the price increase when they found that they couldn't use the old indoor dome and had to change the plans and build a new one? that and the increase in pitches they were recently given permission for.

don't forget the decontamination team that was needed after that shirt was buried in the wall by the most stupid of stupid builders!
