HARTLEY Wintney are up to 11th in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table after taking four points from their last two games.

The village side drew 4-4 at home to high-flying Epsom and Ewell in a thrilling game at the Memorial Ground on Thursday, before winning 4-1 away at Mole Valley on Saturday.

Against Epsom and Ewell, Ian Jones put Hartley ahead, but a poor spell in the 10 minutes leading up to half-time saw the visitors score three times to take a two-goal advantage into the break.

Shane Hollamby took advantage of a goalkeeping error to pull one back for the visitors and Jones then got his second of the game to tie things up at 3-3.

Epsom regained the lead in controversial style, the referee’s assistant deciding that Hartley goalkeeper Craig Atkinson had failed to prevent a shot crossing the line.

However, Jones completed his hat-trick to level the scores once more. Hartley held on for a point, despite having defender Ashley Lloyd shown a red card for dissent.

Ben Dillon’s men maintained their free-scoring run by netting four more at Mole Valley two days later. Sam Argent scored twice, with Hollamby and Ryan Stephens also finding the net.

Any lingering relegation worries Hartley may have had would appear to be over and the village side seem safe in mid-table. However, their busy run continues tomorrow, when they Raynes Park Vale for the third of six games in a 13-day spell.
