- Paul Hogan 5-0 John Part
- Buckskin darts ace Hogan provides a massive shock, whitewashing three-time world champion Part.
- Hogan will now take on Benito van de Pas in the third round of the Coral UK Open this evening.
Right, it's time for me to come clean. I'm not in Somerset, I'm at home watching on the sofa.
As a result, I won't be able to cover tonight's game live. It's not going to be shown on television.
Fingers crossed for Paul though. If he plays like he did this afternoon, he could go a long way in this competition.
Part was very complementary towards Hogan in their post-match interview. He said that, apart from the final result, it had been a good game.
"If I had taken my opportunities, I could have been a ahead," he said. "That's where Paul was very good. He really punished me."
As a result of his great win, Hogan will face Dutchman Benito van de Pas in the third round later tonight.
Here is what he had to say about his next opponent: "Benito is a good player but I have got to go out and enjoy it."
Paul Hogan: "I'm absolutely over the moon. To beat a player like John, you have got to play very well.
"I just went up there and enjoyed it. I did not expect to win 5-0 because he is a quality player who has been there and done it.
"Winning like that gives me confidence but I have played at the Lakeside World Championships so I know that I have got the game to perform at this level. it's just a case of going out and doing it.
"To get a 100 average is superb but you have to play well to beat a three-time world champion."
LEG FIVE - Paul Hogan 5-0 John Part
Wow, how about that?! Fantastic from Hogan. That was a scrappy leg but when Hogan left himself double 12, Part missed two darts at doubles. Hogan was clinical again, hitting double six to tie up the match.
The players are back on stage and ready to resume. Come on Crocodile Dundee!
Hogan probably didn't want this break but surely he can see this through now.
FOURTH LEG - Paul Hogan 4-0 John Part
At the interval, Hogan is just one leg away from a big upset. Part missed two darts at double top in that one and Hogan made no mistake on double 18 to see out the leg against the throw. Great stuff.
THIRD LEG - Paul Hogan 3-0 John Part
And another one. Hogan missed a dart at bullseye for a 161 checkout but Part was miles back and Hogan took out double 16 for another leg.
SECOND LEG - Paul Hogan 2-0 John Part
Excellent from Hogan, who wins against the throw. He hit a 180 in that one but Part had two shots at double top for the leg. He missed and Hogan made him pay by taking out double eight.
FIRST LEG - Paul Hogan 1-0 John Part
Great start for Hogan. He hit 140 with his first three darts but Part hits 180 to put pressure on Hogan's 81 out shot. It makes no difference as Hogan hits the bullseye to take the lead.
That's the first victory of the afternoon for Hogan, who wins the throw as Part misses the 25 going for closest to the bull to decide who will go first.
Hogan has actually won his only previous match against Part. The players are now on stage and are about to get under way.
Hogan is having to wait a while to get on stage here, presumably due to TV scheduling. Hopefully it won't affect his concentration.
Hogan is enjoying something of an Indian summer at the moment. He's 50 but qualified for the world championships at Lakeside in January, winning a match. Let's see how he gets on today.
Not long to wait now. The match on stage just came to an end and Hogan is next up.
This is one of the biggest tournaments of the year. All of the big boys, such as Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld, are here.
Click here to see what Hogan had to say about the tournament earlier this week.
This match will also be the best of nine legs, so five legs is the target. Hogan is on next, with the match before him having a maximum of two legs left.
Hogan has already won one match today, beating Adam Cousins 5-2 to set up this match with Part on the main stage.
The event is taking place at Butlins Minehead Resort in Somerset.
