OVERTON United crashed out of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup at the hands of Southampton Saturday League outfit Cadnam United last weekend.

Hosts Overton had the first real chance of the semi-final, Dave Parry seeing his header tipped away, but Cadnam took the lead with the opening goal of the game a minute later.

Danny Houseman was then denied by the visiting goalkeeper on two occasions but the home side did level on 34 minutes, thanks to Chris Lavisher's excellent strike.

However, Cadnam regained the lead just three minutes later and while Parry went close twice after the break, an excellent strike saw the visitors tie up a 3-1 victory with 19 minutes left.

The defeat was a big blow for Overton but they continue to fly high in the Hampshire Premier League and will be keen to bounce back on Saturday, when they host Paulsgrove.
