TADLEY RFC need just five more points to ensure that they win the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier at the first attempt.

The Red Lane side were relegated from Southern Counties North at the end of last season but look set to bounce back in style after beating nearest rivals Hungerford 33-5 away from home on Saturday.

The result means they are 21 points clear at the top of the table – and they could claim the title this weekend. A bonus-point victory away at struggling Phoenix on Saturday would ensure that they cannot be caught.

Chineham moved up a place to fourth in the Hampshire Two table with a 24-8 victory over visiting Fawley on Saturday.

There was just one try in the first half, Kris Ford storming through to put Chineham 7-3 ahead at the break, while second-half scores from Tom Scoble and Ford had the hosts in control, leading 19-3.

Fawley pulled a try back after winning a scrum against the head but Chineham had the final word, John Lingham crossing the line to earn his side a four-try bonus point.

The result saw Chineham leapfrog their opponents into fourth place. They travel to Nomads on Saturday.

Overton RFC were without a game in Hampshire One but they are in action this weekend. It’s a big one as well, with bottom side Overton hosting Southampton, who are just five points above them.

Aldermaston RFC sit fifth in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship after winning 25-13 at home to struggling Faringdon on Saturday.

Jonny Newman, Gwyn Llewellyn and Luke Butler were the Aldermaston try-scorers, while captain Ian Martin kicked two penalties and two conversions.

Next up is a trip to fourth-placed Harwell, who they could go above if they were to win the game on Saturday.

Bottom side Kingsclere RFC were without a game last weekend and face a tough test on Saturday, hosting league leaders Abingdon.
