THE Basingstoke Buffalo will look to continue their winning streak when the Invicta Mustangs are in town on Sunday night (face-off 6.30pm).

Last weekend, the Buffalo enjoyed a 7-5 victory at the Lee Valley Lions, as man-of-the-match Danny Ingoldsby scored four times.

He netted the only strike of a close first period, but it was in the second session that the visitors did the damage with a five-goal blitz.

Francesco Tambellini doubled their lead, assisted by captain Neil Leary, and then Ingoldsby scored on the powerplay from a Ryan Sutton pass, his first of three assists in the game.

The home side then opened their account, but Matt Lawday scored from Dave Collins to restore the two-goal advantage.

A superb Sutton shorthanded strike made it 5-1, while Ingoldsby completed his hat-trick before the second buzzer.

The teams swapped goals early in the final period, as Ingoldsby netted his fourth of the game.

The Lions then roared late on as they scored three times, but the Buffalo were not to be denied the victory.

Also at the weekend, the Basingstoke Bison Ladies enjoyed an 11-3 victory against the visiting Solent and Gosport Amazons.

The home side never looked back after Jodie Attrill netted the opener at 2:21.

By the 10-minute mark, the Ladies led 4-0 after Geraldine Park, Attrill and Julie Burns, assisted by Kay Carrington-Fisher and Aimee Hamilton, had all scored.

Two goals in the space of 10 seconds from Attrill gave her a hat-trick and Dee West took the home side’s tally to six, before the visitors opened their account with the final goal of the first period.

Solent and Gosport netted the only goal of the middle session and then the home side found their scoring touch again as Leah Trueman netted her first of a final period hat-trick.

Further goals from Burns, Attrill and Trueman took the score to 10-2, before the visitors netted their third.

It was left to Trueman to complete the scoring as Emma Toose picked up her second helper of the night.

The Ladies are next in action on home ice on Saturday, March 22, when Swindon Topcats are the visitors.
