THE Loddon Vale men have won the Eastern Division of the Warners Leisure Hotels Wessex League.

As mentioned two weeks ago, there was nothing the club could do but wait for the final two matches to be completed.

Westlecot beat Carterton 72-71 but only managed to record 14 out of the 16 points available.

The other team in the picture, West Berks, thumped Oxford and District 82-65, but only managed to get 15 of the 16 points available.

The final table looks very nice, with Loddon Vale on top with 97 points, ahead of Westlecot and West Berks, who both ended up on 95.

The Vale men now move into the play-offs with the other divisions.

Earlier this month, Vale sent six under-16s and six under-18s to the English Bowls Youth Development Scheme held at Palmerston.

The juniors did exceptionally well with Ashley Nethercliffe winning the under-15 crown. Nicole Rogers won the under-18s and Ross Jones came second.

All three now will represent Hampshire in the Southern Area finals to be held at Horsham Indoor Bowling Club on April 13.
