  • Basingstoke up to 10th in the Conference South following a vital win in Somerset.
  • Nathan Smart gives Town a deserved win with a wonder-goal on 83 minutes.

5:27pm

Right, that's me done for today. The result means Town are up to 10th in the Conference South table, but they remain nine points outside the play-off places, with games in hand.

Live coverage of the Basingstoke Bison's crucial match against the Manchester Phoenix will begin shortly.

5:00pm

Elsewhere, Southampton have lost 3-1 at West Ham, while Reading are 1-0 down at home to Blackburn deep into added time.

4:58pm

A fully-deserved win for Town, who were the better side all-round and secured three points with a great goal.

Reaction to follow.

4:53pm

Bath City 0-1 Basingstoke Town

4:53pm

Williams lets fly from distance and it's not too far over.

4:53pm

Wes Daly - Basingstoke Town (90+3 min)

4:51pm

Bit of a nervy moment there. Wells could only punch a cross away and when the ball was put back in, it dropped for Reid, but he could only fire over.

4:48pm

Town will have to survive five minutes of injury-time.

4:47pm

A bit of a scramble in the Town area but the visitors get bodies in the way and get it away.

Thats a crucial goal for Stoke at a crucial time in our season with games coming at us thick and fast maybe the playoffs isnt all that far away

4:46pm

A great chance on the break but Kezie Ibe delays the pass and Soares is caught offside.

4:41pm

Bath City 0-1 Basingstoke Town - Smart (83 min)

Town deserve that but it's a wonderful strike from NATHAN SMART. Bath sat off him and he let fly from 25 yards, his shot smacking the underside of the crossbar before bouncing over the line.

4:41pm

Good play by Soares down the right. He cuts in and his shot from a narrow angle forces Mellor to save with his feet again.

4:39pm

Bath City - Josh Low on for Ross Stearn (81 min)

4:38pm

Bath City - Jake Reid on for Andy Watkins (80 min)

4:35pm

Matthews is just unable to get on the end of a great cross from Smart.

4:34pm

Stearn cuts in from the right following a good interchange with Pratt, but his low shot is straight at Wells.

4:33pm

Aaron Brown - Bath City (74 min)

Brown goes into the book for a foul on Williams.

4:32pm

Nathan Smart - Basingstoke Town (73 min)

Smart is booked after an angry reaction to a foul on him, pushing Chris Allen in the chest. It came seconds after David Ray had done well to block from Watkins.

4:29pm

Basingstoke Town - Robbie Matthews on for Shaun McAuley (70 min)

McAuley is unable to continue and Bristow opts to replace him with striker Matthews. May be a rib problem for McAuley.

4:25pm

McAuley is down following a collision with Pratt. Looks in a bit of pain. He may have landed awkwardly on his shoulder there.

4:25pm

Basingstoke Town - Kezie Ibe on for Jordace Holder-Spooner (66 min)

4:24pm

McAuley fires in a shot from 25 yards - and that's not far wide of the top corner.

4:23pm

A short corner leads to Daly letting fly from the edge of the area but it's too close to Mellor.

4:22pm

Almost an own-goal as Brown heads Jenkinson's cross narrowly wide.

4:21pm

A near-post corner finds Dan Ball but he is unable to direct his header on target.

4:19pm

Dunn brings Stearn down on the right wing to give away a dangerous free-kick that Town just about deal with.

4:16pm

The hosts fall for a short-corner routine. Soares plays a neat one-two but his shot from a narrow angle is saved by the feet of Mellor once more.

4:15pm

A good challenge denies Dunn a clear chance after some lovely one-touch passing in the Bath area.

4:14pm

More good pressure. Daly is put in down the right channel but cannot get a shot away. McAuley does manage to fire in a shot from a narrow angle but Mellor saves with his feet at the near post.

4:11pm

More desperate defending from Bath, a couple of good blocks stopping Town players getting shots in.

4:10pm

Town have made a good start to the second half and that's almost a chance for Soares, but the flag is up for offside.

4:06pm

Town look to be in behind, but the flag is up for offside.

4:05pm

Good play from Holder-Spooner puts Soares in down the left and his dangerous cross is well defended by Aaron Brown.

4:03pm

Town get the second half under way. No changes at the break.

4:02pm

The teams are coming back out. There are 519 people here today.

3:55pm

Ben Wright has scored for Eastleigh, who lead 1-0 at Farnborough.

3:53pm

It's bad news elsewhere. Maya Yoshida gave Southampton the lead at West Ham but the hosts have hit back to lead 2-1 at the break. Reading are 1-0 down at home to Blackburn.

3:50pm

A very good first-half performance from Town, but they have nothing to show for it. Can they make the most of shooting down the slope after the break?

3:48pm

Bath City 0-0 Basingstoke Town

3:48pm

Another opening for Town right at the end of the half. Williams is denied the chance to get on the end of a cross by a fine challenge, while McAuley fired too close to Mellor with an angled effort.

3:47pm

Bath break and have three men on two, but Nathan Smart does well to dispossess Watkins down the left.

3:46pm

That's a lovely scooped pass from Williams to put Soares in the clear. He controls well but takes to long to get his shot away and is tackled. A good chance wasted.

3:40pm

Andrew Jenkinson - Basingstoke Town (38 min)

Jenkinson goes into the book for the latest in a series of fouls down the left. He will have to be very careful now up against the tricky Ross Stearn.

The free-kick also causes problems, just evading Pratt at the far post.

3:38pm

Town's pressing wins them the ball in a dangerous area and Soares finds Holder-Spooner on the right side of the area. He beats one defender but can only blast a low shot across goal and well wide.

3:34pm

Another good spell from Town but they are unable to break down Bath's massed ranks at the back. A couple of shots are blocked, while Bath can clear when Dunn's attempted cross goes behind.

3:30pm

Pratt is up to meet a free-kick from deep, but the ball's just to high for him and he cannot control his header.

3:28pm

David Ray and Watkins clash accidentally off the ball, with the Bath man coming off worse, though he should be okay to continue.

3:26pm

Pratt knocks the ball down for Andy Watkins, but his volley from 25 yards was well over.

3:25pm

Bath started the game very poorly but they have improved in the last couple of minutes, closing Town down better and having some decent possession of their own.

3:22pm

Town are enjoying plenty of possession and really need to make the breakthrough while they are on top.

3:15pm

Daly fires in a shot from distance but it's well wide.

3:13pm

Close again for Town, who have started well. A corner was not cleared and Holder-Spooner did well to turn before hitting a shot that hit Mellor in the face. His effort on the rebound was not so good, going out for a throw.

3:12pm

Close for the visitors as McAuley finds himself in space. His low shot from the edge of the area is spilt by Bath goalkeeper Jason Mellor, who just about manages to recover before it crosses the line or Williams forces it in.

3:08pm

Soares wins the first corner of the game for Town following a decent move.

3:07pm

Bath break quickly following a Town attack ends in McAuley seeing his shot blocked. Ross Stearn has time on the right wing but his cross is poor. Miles over the bar.

3:05pm

Dunn has the first shot of the match but his looping effort from just outside the area is well over.

3:03pm

An easy claim for Louis Wells in the Town goal though.

3:02pm

An early free-kick for the hosts following a foul on the right wing.

3:01pm

Bath get the game under way. Town must have won the toss as the teams have switched ends. The visitors are shooting up the slope in the first half, but into the sun.

2:58pm

The players are out - and so's the sun. A rare occurrence, on both counts.

2:51pm

2:48pm

The players are just leaving the field to make their final preparations.

2:47pm

Right, let's have a few fixture pile-up statistics. This is only Town's second game in February. It will also be their last.

In March and April, they must play 18 games in 56 days. That's one every three days. It's going to be a marathon.

2:35pm

Couple of other games of interest this afternoon. Live coverage of Southampton's trip to West Ham can be found by clicking here, while Reading are at home to Blackburn in the Championship. I'll let you know how both are getting on at half-time and after the match.

2:23pm

It's a pretty bright day in Somerset and the pitch looks remarkably dry. Easy to see why Bath haven't had a home game called off so far this season.

2:22pm

Having said that, Jason Bristow has just taken Williams and Holder-Spooner aside for a chat, indicating they may be playing in tandem up front.

2:21pm

Could be a number of formations for Town, the most likely being 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1, which would be a new one. Might be interesting, with Louie Soares, Shaun McAuley and Holder-Spooner in behind Manny Williams. I'll let you know when the game gets under way.
