REPORT - Basingstoke Bison 7 Slough Jets 2
The Basingstoke Bison completed a super four point weekend, as they beat the Slough Jets 7-2 on Sunday night.
The home side won the contest thanks to a five-goal blitz in the first period. Ciaran Long opened the scoring at 9:13, with a bullet of shot from the right wing and within a minute man-of-the-match Aaron Connolly had added a second.
The Herd looked to have scored a sixth goal early in the second period, as Tomas Karpov fired home, but the goal was disallowed by referee Matt Thompson as the net was off it moorings.
A rare Slough attack saw Matt Towalski score their opening goal at 28:25.
The Bison continued to pile on the pressure and the net came off a number of times.
This finally saw goalie Andrej Vasijevic penalised for a delay of game penalty by referee Dave Cloutman.
The Herd added a sixth goal early in the final period from Karpov.
Joe Rand thought he had scored a seventh goal from close range, but once again Thompson disallowed it for the net being off.
Slough netted their second of the contest, as Edward Temple tapped in Towalski’s rebound, before the Bison’s Karpov wrapped up the scoring.
The Herd will now look to go top of the English Premier League, when they travel to Ice Sheffield to take on the Steeldogs on Wednesday night.
