STUART Mogg scored his first-ever English Premier League goal, as the Basingstoke Bison beat the Milton Keynes Lightning 6-2 in Coventry on Saturday night.

This was the last game between these sides before the first-leg of the EPL Cup final, which is at the same venue on March 5. The second-leg is in Basingstoke on March 12.

The Bison welcomed back British forward Andy Melachrino and he scored the second of three Herd goals in the opening period, with Joe Greener getting the other two.

In the second session, Greener completed his first hat-trick of the season, before Mogg made it 5-0 at 32:31.

MK opened their account o the powerplay at 37:05, from Stanislav Lascek, but the Herd still led by four goals at the second buzzer.

Bison’s man-of-the-match Tomas Karpov added a sixth, before MK’s man-of-the-match Michael Farn wrapped up the match scoring.

The Herd will now look to complete a four point weekend, when they entertain the Slough Jets tonight.
