BASINGSTOKE Town's Conference South fixture against Chelmsford City, which was due to take place at the Camrose this afternoon, has been postponed.

After 24 hours of strong winds and heavy rain, the pitch failed to pass a 9am inspection and the decision was taken to call it off due to a waterlogged pitch.

A new date has already been agreed for the rearranged game, which will take place on Tuesday, April 8.

Town will have to play at least one game on a Thursday. Their trip to Woking's Kingfield Stadium to play Hayes and Yeading United will take place on April 3.

The good news for Town is that they do not currently have a second game scheduled for that week.

Town are due to be in action on Tuesday night, making the short trip to Farnborough.
