WILLIAM Birch turned in a five-star performance as the Basingstoke under-12 Bison enjoyed their biggest win of the season, thrashing the visiting Haringey Hounds 12-0 last Sunday.

The young Herd never looked back after Birch scored the first of his five goals after just 90 seconds, converting a pass from Oliver Reeves.

Birch went on to complete a first period hat-trick, with this third goal being assisted by Lucy Beal.

After the break, Birch found the net again, this time from Harry Brewer, and then Kody Sewell made it 5-0.

The goals kept coming for the home side, as Emily Harris netted a brace, the second being assisted by William James.

The Bison then took their tally to nine by the second buzzer, after Oliver Waites scored and Harry Brooks converted from a Thomas Banner pass.

It was the under-10 Bison forward’s first-ever under-12 goal.

The final session saw three further strikes from Waites, Harris with her hat-trick, shorthanded, and Birch.

The Herd’s man-of-the-match was Travis Penny, who collected three assists in the game. James was the Bison’s spirit-of-the-game winner, as he picked up his first-ever point for the team.

Netminders Cyrus Angell and Lewis Grimshaw shared the home shut-out as they made six saves each.

Straight after this game, the Basingstoke Bison Ladies lost 8-1 to visiting Invicta.

Jodie Attrill scored the home side’s only goal, assisted by Leah White.
