Young Jack's a Hampshire inspiration
9:49pm Friday 7th February 2014 in Sport
A large number of the Hampshire Cricket playing squad made the trip to Southampton General Hospital to visit seriously ill Jack Robinson. Captain Jimmy Adams, David Balcombe, Adam Wheater, Chris Wood, Matt Coles, Lewis McManus, James Tomlinson, Liam Dawson and Director of Cricket.
Giles White all visited the four-year-old who was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour in January. Jack, from Denmead near Portsmouth, had an operation to remove the brain tumour soon after, but only has a slim chance of survival.
The players also gave Jack a signed Hampshire shirt and spent time speaking with his family and posing for photos. Adams said: “It was great for us to come and visit Jack. It is really important for us to support our community and visiting Jack was the least we could do. He’s a brave boy and a real inspiration for all of us.”
White added: “It’s important that we make the effort to help the local community as much as we can. “In addition, it’s great that Hampshire Cricket in the Community are allowing donations to Jack to go through them and hopefully this will bring in some more interest from around the county.”
