BASINGSTOKE Town have missed out on a new loan deal for striker Ben Wright, who has signed for their Hampshire rivals Eastleigh.
The Basingstoke-born striker spent January on loan at the Camrose, playing three times and scoring the opener as Jason Bristow's men won 3-1 at Eastbourne Borough.
He returned to parent club Salisbury City last week but Basingstoke Town boss Bristow told the Gazette that he planned to "keep an eye" on the situation with a view to potentially bringing Wright back for another loan spell.
That now looks unlikely as Wright will spend at least the next month in south Hampshire, trying to help Eastleigh overtake Bromley at the top of the table.
