GREG Martyn had a hand in all three Basingstoke Buffalo goals as they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with the visiting Wightlink Tigers on Sunday night.
In an even contest from start to finish, the home side deservedly broke the deadlock at 24:46, as Matt Lawday converted Martyn’s pass on the powerplay.
The island side hit back and levelled the game from Jordan Ricketts, before Sean Richardson edged them in front with a goal in the last two minutes of the second session.
The Buffalo went looking for an equaliser and a super solo strike from man-of-the-match Martyn tied the game with five minutes to go.
The home side then took a 3-2 lead on the last powerplay of the night, as Martyn fired home after good work from Neil Leary.
The third goal in as many minutes saw the Tigers roar back level as Ricketts scored his second of the game.
The Buffalo are next in action on Sunday February 16 at Haringey, while their next home game is on March 2, when Invicta Mustangs visit the Basingstoke Arena.
Before the Buffalo’s game, the under-18 Bison lost 8-1 to visiting Chelmsford.
Paul Petts scored their only goal, assisted by Jordan Gillard, 22 seconds before the final buzzer.
Netminder Jordan Lawday was the young Herd’s man-of-the-match as he faced 65 shots on the evening.
