TABLE-TOPPING Tadley RFC maintained their excellent form in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier, claiming a 34-7 victory over Gosford All Blacks at Red Lane on Saturday.

The hosts went ahead thanks to a successful penalty, while tries from Gareth Cripps-Jones and Chris Dennison had Tadley 13-0 up at half-time.

Gosford pulled seven points back early in the second half with a converted try but further scores from Jake Cottrell, Rob Murray and Dennison saw Tadley secure a comfortable win and maximum points.

They are 17 points clear at the top and have a break from league action on Saturday, when they host Thatcham in the Berkshire Plate.

Aldermaston RFC sit fifth in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship after making a strong comeback to beat Crowthorne 24-21 on Saturday.

The teams were locked at 7-7 after 40 minutes, Aldermaston’s try being scored by Jonny Newman, but Crowthorne scored twice early in the second half to take a 21-7 lead.

Tim Pearson got the hosts back into the game with a try, while further scores from Luke Lambden and Newman completed the comeback to give Aldermaston a hard-earned win.

Next up for Aldermaston is a trip to eighth-placed Berkshire Shire Hall on Saturday.

Kingsclere RFC were unable to raise a side for their trip to Risborough and are now on -8 points at the bottom of the table. They are without a game this weekend.

Overton RFC are now nine points from safety at the bottom of Hampshire One after losing 60-10 away at league leaders Fordingbridge on Saturday.

Gavin Plows gave the visitors a surprise early lead from a lineout drive but the leaders were 24-5 ahead at half-time and well clear before Adam McCloud ran in Overton’s second try.

The Laverstoke Park side are without a game this weekend, as are Hampshire Two outfit Chineham RFC, who have a second week with no fixture.
