BASINGSTOKE and Mid Hants sprinter Owen Richardson made it two medals in two weeks by claiming bronze in the under-17 60m at the Southern Regional Indoors Athletics Championships.

Richardson made his second appearance in as many weeks at the championships, having won the 400m seven days earlier. He won his heat in 7.20sec and his semi-final in 7.13sec to reach the final where he finished third in a new personal-best time of 7.05sec.

Another five athletes from the Down Grange club also travelled to the Lee Valley Stadium for the second half of the championships.

Myles Richardson, Owen’s older brother, competed in the under-20 60m, winning his heat in 7.19sec before being knocked out in the semis after finishing joint third in 7.14sec.

Dean Showler-Davis competed in the senior 60m, finishing fifth in the final with a time of 6.92sec. He was second in his heat, clocking 7.03sec, and third in the semi-final in a time of 6.94sec.

Lucy Bomphrey and Elizabeth Butler-Clack both competed in the under-17 60m. Both made it through their heats, finishing second, but Butler-Clack was unable to get beyond the semis, finishing fourth in 8.18sec.

Bomphrey did reach the final, clocking 8.01 to finish second in her semi, before going on to claim fifth place in a time of 7.99sec.

Andy Blow reached the final of the senior 60m hurdles after finishing third in his heat in a time of 8.12sec. He improved his time in the final, finishing fourth in 8.05sec.
