CHINEHAM RFC put in a good display but were unable to avoid defeat to Hampshire Two leaders Petersfield on Saturday.
The game took place on a boggy pitch at May’s Bounty and the visitors dominated the first half, conceding three converted tries to trail by a distance at the change of ends.
Chineham improved after the break but were unable to make up for their poor first half, eventually losing 37-20. Kris Ford and Chris Dickens got Chineham’s tries. Ford also kicked two penalties and a conversion, with Jordan Slanley making the other conversion.
Chineham sit fourth in the table but are without a game this weekend.
Kingsclere were the only other north Hampshire side to get a game in, losing 46-12 at home to third-placed Harwell in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship. They remain bottom of the table ahead of a trip to Risborough on Saturday.
Aldermaston’s trip to Berkshire Shire Hall was postponed and they sit sixth ahead of a home game against Crowthorne on Saturday.
Tadley are 15 points clear at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier after being given a home walkover by Chipping Norton. They host third-placed Gosforth All Blacks on Saturday.
Overton were without a game in Hampshire One and remain bottom of the table. Next up is a daunting trip to table-topping Fordingbridge on Saturday.
