ONLY matches survived the weather in the Basingstoke and District Leagues last weekend, with all of them being played on Sunday after the entire Saturday programme was washed out.

Skewers cruised into the semi-final of the North Hants Chris Price Cup as they won 6-1 at Owslebury, scoring three times in each half.

Brett Denham led the scoring with a hat-trick, with the other goals scored by Ollie Osborne, Stephen Bean and Karl Hanks, who converted a penalty.

RAF Odiham Blades also moved into the last four as they beat South Wonston Swifts 2-1.

The only league fixture to overcome the forces of nature was in Division One, as Tron thrashed Basingstoke Saints 12-2.

Saints began with two substitutes and both had to be employed in the first half. A further injury saw them end the match with 10 men, fighting a rearguard action against the rampant league leaders.

David Parry opened Tron’s account and then Gary Osmond scored from the edge of the area. Saints replied with a long range strike from Astrine West but further Tron goals from Jesse Todd and Nathan Rae made it 4-1 at half-time.

Saints were first to score after the break through Ryan Sawyer but then the floodgates opened as Parry and Todd completed their hat-tricks. Substitute Charlie Palmer, Harry Palmer, Ross Soper-Dyer and Scott Winterbourne wrapped up the scoring.
