LAST Saturday proved to be a rare blank day for the Basingstoke RFC’s second to fifth teams as none of them were able to emulate the senior squad and open 2014 with a win.

The Dragons lost at their Winchester counterparts 27-17, while the Griffins had been due to face Havant III, but their opponents were unable to raise a side.

So instead they entertained Farnham IIs and went down 41-17.

The Cavaliers had their match at Market House Pirates postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and this has been rearranged for February 22.

The fifths came the closest to enjoying a victory last Saturday, but went down 22-18 in a derby game at Chineham IIs.

This Saturday, the Dragons will hope to return to winning ways when they host Havant A.

Also at Down Grange are the Griffins, with Eastleigh II being their opponents.

The Cavaliers have no game this weekend, while the fifths are away at Winchester Vets.
