LODDON Vale is to host the male and female Under-25 National Championship finals on the weekend of January 25 and 26.
Matches will commence at noon on both days and entr-ance is free for club members and children, while for other spectators it is £2.
Loddon Vale lost in a friendly at Croydon 101-85 last Thursday.
Vale had just one winning rink, skipped by Don Lee (23-10). Their losing rinks were led by Brian Ambler (20-14), Alan Tait (23-21), John Hilton (16-14) and Jim Rainbow (32-13).
Saturday morning saw the ladies keep up their good run in the Yetton Plate as they turned over Dorchester 88-68. This was thanks to superb results by the away rinks skipped by Karen Winter (30-9) and Sheila Stone (18-18).
The home rinks saw Tina Rogers lose 28-21, but Pauline Oxlade won 19-13.
Unfortunately, at the same time, the men lost their top-of-the-table Trisham Trophy match against Palmerston 88-78.
Ted Brown lost to Former Vale player Peter Gentry 22-19 and Ian Laming lost 27-17.
Dougie Morgan won 23-20 and John Holmes forced a 19-19 draw.
In the afternoon, the club won their annual friendly against London Welsh 169-144.
The four home winning rinks were Fred Goddard (31-23), Jim Rainbow (35-10), Frank Fuller (21-15) and Don Lee (30-11).
The losing rinks were Derek Baylis (25-10), Ernie Sparrowhawk (17-16), Terry Jones (30-13), while Mick Jones drew 13-13.
Sunday’s friendly against Riverside was won 127-110, with their winning rinks being Sparrowhawk (30-10), Laming (29-10) and Hilton (22-12).
The losing rinks were Alan Smith (22-18), Jones (25-18) and Steve Foyle (31-10).
