AFC ALDERMASTON Football Club’s funds have been boosted after they received a £5,000 Grow the Game grant from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

The grant will allow Aldermaston to start up a number of new junior football teams for boys and girls from age eight upwards, and to fund the training and development of several new coaches and referees to approved FA standards.

Grow the Game funding increases participation in football by helping clubs to provide opportunities for new players, or training volunteers to support new players and teams.

The programme is delivered in partnership with all of the 46 County FAs and funded by The FA.

AFC Aldermaston chairman Matt Desay said: “This is fantastic news and a wonderful opportunity to further develop football coaching and development opportunities for young people in the Aldermaston, Tadley and surrounding areas.

“This football club has a proud history stretching over 60 years and we are keen to see the club continue to grow and prosper.

“We are extremely thankful to the Football Foundation and the Berks and Bucks FA for continuing to support and help us to further develop grass roots football for our community.”

On the same evening the club picked up their grant, they were also presented with their Chartered Standard Award from the Berks and Bucks FA.
