Yeovil date gets Saints midfielder buzzing

Basingstoke Gazette: LLOYD ISGROVE LLOYD ISGROVE

LLOYD Isgrove is dreaming of an FA Cup outing against his hometown club in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Welsh youth international midfielder – who celebrates his 21st birthday next week – was born in Yeovil.

And he was quick to take to twitter after the fourth round draw paired Saints at home to the Championship strugglers.

“Hometown at home in the next round #buzzing #FACup” he tweeted.

Isgrove made his first Saints start in this season’s Capital One Cup tie at Barnsley in August.

He later picked up a knee injury but returned to training last week.

Saints are no strangers to Yeovil, having played the Glovers four times in their two League 1 seasons a few years ago, winning three of them.

They beat Yeovil 2-0 at St Mary’s in September 2009 with two Rickie Lambert penalties – Alan Pardew’s first league win – before a late Lee Barnard goal gave them a 1-0 win in Somerset the following April.

That was after Morgan Schneiderlin had been sent off.

Yeovil held Saints 1-1 at Huish Park in September 2010, but Saints won 3-0 at St Mary’s later in the season with Barnard (2) and Alex Chamberlain on target.

Yeovil have two ex-Saints in their ranks, signing both of them last summer after their release from St Mary’s Striker Sam Hoskins was not in the squad for the 4-0 FA Cup win against Leyton Orient, though he did come on as a sub in their 5-1 loss at Huddersfield on New Year’s Day.

Defender Danny Seaborne has just returned to Huish Park after a loan spell ended abruptly at Coventry.

The 26-year-old appeared in ten Championship games for Yeovil prior to joining the Sky Blues on loan.

Seaborne is currently serving a three-game ban after being punished by the FA for an off-the-ball incident in a 1-1 draw against Oldham last month that was missed by referee Dean Whitestone.

Coventry boss Steven Pressley is keen to sign Seaborne permanently.

“He definitely interests us in the longer term.

“He’s a great age for us at 26, with his best years in front of him, and being a left-footer is ideal for us.

“I don’t think he’s part of Yeovil’s plans so there’s a good chance they will want to do business.”

A positive draw for us. We can do something with this one, and it would be good to see how Seaborne is doing, if he gets a game against us.

I wondered what happened to Isgrove. He looked quite handy preseason and at Barnsley.

Still a bit overpriced and I am not happy with the way they are treating ST holders.
