OVERTON United ended 2013 proudly sitting on top of the Hampshire Premier League after a 2-0 victory over visiting Liss.

The home side dominated the first 45 minutes, but somehow the scoreline remained 0-0.
 

Overton continued to be patience and 10 minutes after the break they took the lead.
 

After the visiting goalkeeper punched out a cross, the ball fell to Dan Houseman and he was brought down in the box.
 

The striker got up and converted the spot-kick and Overton were on their way to victory.
 

The lead was doubled 10 minutes later, as Myles Englefield scored and from on they were in control.
 

A delighted manager Titch Bloomfield said: “It is great to be top of the league, but we are taking it one game at a time. If we are still in with a shout come the last six games, we will have a good chance of winning it.
“The win over Liss was a good team performance and everyone around the club is really buzzing at the moment.”
 

Overton will take a break from league action this weekend when they entertain Colden Common in the fourth round of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup looking to a place in the quarter-finals. The game was a 1.30pm kick-off
 

Looking ahead to cup tie, Bloomfield said: “They are holders and a very good team, so we are expecting a tough cup tie.”
 

Overton’s HPL rivals AFC Aldermaston are also in cup action this Saturday in the fourth round of the Bucks and Berks Cup, when they face a visit from Amersham Town.
Their game last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
