The Basingstoke under-18 Bison suffered a 6-3 loss at the Guildford Phoenix.

The visitors’ netminder, Jordan Lawday, had a busy night, facing 50 shots and was quickly into action, producing a
double save with Guildford shorthanded.

Guildford scored the only goal of the opening session and after the break, their captain, Josh Abbott, scored a
straight hat-trick to make it 4-0.

Basingstoke started their fightback at 30.09, as Hallam Wilson picked up a pass from man-of-the-match Matt Levy and beat the Guildford goalie one-on-one.

Soon after, Alex Sampford and Lewis Jennings went close, before a long pass from Paul Petts saw Wilson beat the final
defenceman and goalie to score.

Jack Standing’s blue line blast was the first chance of the final period, and soon after, the lead was reduced to
one goal as Petts scored on the powerplay, assisted by Jordan Gillard and Wilson.

The young Herd came looking for an equaliser and Petts and Levy were denied before Abbott scored two late goals to
make sure of the victory.
