THE BASINGSTOKE Buffalo enjoyed a 5-3 victory against the Invicta Mustangs at Gillingham.

The visitors took just 61 seconds to take the lead as Greg Martyn netted from Neil Leary.

Matt Lawday then doubled the advantage, as he converted a pass from Ryan Sutton.

Invicta pulled a goal back before the break, but Roberto Tambellini finished a nice move involving Elliott Dewey and Dave Collins to make it 3-1.

The Kent side then scored either side of a Chris Beal strike from Lawday’s pass to make it 4-3 after 40 minutes.

The only goal of the final period was scored by Leary as he put away a pass from Sutton.

The side then lost at the Bristol Pitbulls 5-2, but they have a chance for quick revenge when the teams meet in Basingstoke on Sunday, January 5 (face-off 6.30pm).

In a game played at Oxford, the Buffalo took the lead after 81 seconds from Tambellini, but they then trailed 3-1 at the first break.

The lead was reduced to one goal after Nathan Moss scored on his debut, assisted by Chris Beauclerk, but Bristol scored twice more to complete the scoring.

Netminder Chris Edwards was the Buffalo man-of-the-match.
