BASINGSTOKE Ice Skating Club celebrated their 25th ice show in superb style with The Magic of Dreams Christmas Show, which wowed the audiences at the Basingstoke Arena.

The evening showcased the talent at the club and skaters from right across the age-range took part, from as young as four to over 70.

There were 190 skaters involved, with many of them on the ice at the same time, thrilling the crowds with their skating, which was of an excellent standard.

There were four performances of the show over one weekend, with nearly 1,500 people seeing it in total.

The show involved an enchanting journey by three sisters, which led them through an array of different routines including a candy world, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, the circus, Never Never Land, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Aladdin and, finally, Christmas morning.

The head of the coaching team that put the show together was three-times Danish champion Peter Baekgaard.

“I am very pleased the way the show has come together,” said Baekgaard.

“All the hard work from the skaters has really paid off and everyone has enjoyed it.”

Simon Hawthorne, chairman of Basingstoke Ice Skating Club, said: “Words cannot express how proud I am of what Peter, the coaches and whole cast have achieved with this year’s Christmas show.

“They were fully supported by a large and enthusiastic volunteer backstage team and a front of house team.

“All the work and effort really paid off.”

Now the hard work starts again as the club start to put together what is sure to be another great show in 2014.
