Mauricio Pochettino has indicated that Saints will not be active in the January transfer window.

The Saints boss has also played down rumours that players such as Rickie Lambert could leave when the market opens next month.

He said: “We’re not really concerned with the transfer window in January.

“We’re really happy with the young players that are part of this team.

“We’re really happy that the young players are actually partaking in the training sessions with the older players in the team and that they’re getting a feel for what it is to be in the senior side.

“I think that gives us a very important equilibrium, a very important balance in the team, and we’re really happy with their contribution, so we’re not really looking toward the transfer window.”

Asked about the possibility of players, and specifically Lambert, departing in January, Pochettino said: “Rumours do exist.

“Probably this season we have rumours that concern from the president to the kitman.

“So we don’t really know where all these rumours are coming from. So we need to be fully focused on our work and to be fully aware that this period is going to be full of rumours.”
