LUKE Walker scored twice as Whitchurch United’s unbeaten run moved on to 14 games with a 2-1 victory over Wessex League Premier Division strugglers Romsey Town on Saturday.

Visiting Whitchurch dominated the early stages, with Nic Turpin and Shane Lock both going close before they took the lead on the half-hour mark, Walker firing home.

The Jam Boys also made a good start to the second half but Romsey forced their way back into the game and levelled midway through the half.

However, Walker’s second goal of the afternoon, scored on 75 minutes, earned Whitchurch a 2-1 win that meant they retained sixth place in the table.

Jim Macey’s side are in action again tomorrow night, travelling to fellow high-flyers Blackfield and Langley, while they host Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday.
