JOE Miller scored his second hat-trick of the season, as the Basingstoke Bison won at the Swindon Wildcats 4-3 on Saturday night.

The Herd took the lead on their first powerplay of the game, as Tomas Karpov scored at 8:46.

The Wildcats, who beat the Bison in the season opener, equalised through Adam Harding and it remained 1-1 at the first buzzer.

The second session saw man-of-the-match Miller open his account on the powerplay, before once again Swindon levelled from their star import Jonas Hoog.

The Bison took the lead again with eight minutes to go in the game, as Miller netted his second and the British forward completed his hat-trick at 55:33 which gave the visitors a 4-2 lead.

Just 11 seconds later, Swindon reduced the advantage to one goal as Jan Kostal scored and this set-up a dramatic finale.

The Wildcats pulled their netminder man-of-the-match Stevie Lyle in the final minute and were then given a powerplay in the dying seconds.

However, Basingstoke goalie Dean Skinns, on his first return to Swindon since signing in the summer, kept his old team out as the Herd made it four wins on the trot.

Tonight, the Bison are in action at Slough looking to keep the pressure up on new leaders Guildford.
