THE 2014 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports Awards are now open for nominations, and local people are being encouraged to nominate their unsung heroes and sporting talent for 18 different awards.

The awards reward and recognise commitment, performance and excellence across all sports.

Nominations are open until January 31, 2014, and are free via an online form at sporthampshireiow.co.uk where nomination guidelines and information about the awards can also be found.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Southampton Football Club on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

The award categories are as follows: Junior Sportsman, Junior Sportswoman, Senior Sportsman, Senior Sportswoman, Masters Sportsperson, Junior Disability Sportsperson, Senior Disability Sportsperson, Junior Team of the Year, Senior Team of the Year, Coach of the Year (participation), Coach of the Year (performance), Official of the Year, Junior Volunteer of the Year, Senior Volunteer of the Year, Service to Sport, Club of the Year, Outstanding Personal Achievement Award and London 2012 Legacy Award.
