CASUAL golfers are being given the chance to become a member of a north Hampshire golf club.

This weekend will see Sherfield Oaks Golf Club launch a Freedom Play membership scheme. The scheme allows golfers to pay a low annual subscription and get credits, which they exchange for rounds of golf.

It takes more credits to play at busy times, while playing when the course is quieter allows credits to stretch further.

Taking up this sort of membership could cost as little as £295 a year, but would still give players the chance to play in competitions and get an official handicap.

To launch the scheme, the club is holding a three-day special event from tomorrow until Sunday, with golfers who sign up now receiving extra credits.
