JUSTIN Rose will find out whether he has won BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award tonight – but he needs the people of north Hampshire to get behind him and vote if he is going to come out on top.

The Hook golfer is one of 10 sportspeople shortlisted for the prestigious award following an outstanding year that saw him win his first major title, the US Open.

The public will vote for a winner from the shortlist during the course of the awards show, which is due to take place at the First Direct Arena, in Leeds, between 7.40pm and 10pm on Sunday.

Voting will take place by telephone and via the BBC website – but Rose will need the whole area to get behind him if he is to overhaul heavy favourite Andy Murray and lift the trophy.
