Tadley RFC move six points clear at top of table
TADLEY RFC are six points clear at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier thanks to a 62-12 victory over visiting Aylesbury Athletic on Saturday.
The hosts did not make a particularly good start but gradually took control and went ahead with prop Duncan Ewart’s first try of the season.
Further scores from Charlie Cox, Pete Rosier and Jake Cottrell had the hosts 26-5 ahead at half-time, with Rob Murray scoring twice in the second half and Adam Stanley, Brin Filer, Gareth Cripps-Jones and Kyle Brewer completing the rout.
Next up for the league leaders is a trip to seventh-placed Chesham on Saturday.
Chineham beat struggling Stoneham 69-0 to move up to sixth in the Hampshire Two standings.
The hosts were dominant throughout, with Jonty Moody and Chris Ford both scoring twice, while Sam Smith, Chris Dickens, Tom Johnson, Luke Dyer, Zak Woodger, Tom Scoble and Olly Wood also touched down.
Next up for Chineham is a trip to Aldershot and Farnham, who are below them in the table, on Saturday.
Overton’s struggles in Hampshire One continued as they lost 23-14 at home to fellow strugglers Isle of Wight. The Laverstoke Park side remain bottom of the table ahead of a home game against Alton on Saturday.
Aldermaston missed the chance to go second in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship, losing 40-17 away at fellow high-flyers Wheatley on Saturday.
A makeshift Aldermaston side struggled in the first half and trailed by 30 points at the break. The game was lost but they hit back in the second period, Joe Wood scoring a hat-trick of tries as they outscored their opponents after half-time.
Despite the defeat, Aldermaston remain third in the table – but they face a visit from leaders Abingdon on Saturday.
Kingsclere remain bottom after losing 31-17 at home to Crowthorne. They travel to Faringdon on Saturday.
