TADLEY Calleva held Wessex League Division One leaders Andover Town to a 3-3 draw at Barlows Park last night.

Brett Denham gave the home side an early lead, which was doubled when Ashley Ledger took advantage of a poor clearance from the visiting goalkeeper to slot home, putting Tadley two up at the break.

Andrew Charsley was denied by a fantastic save early in the second half and Andover hit back, scoring twice to pull level with 15 minutes to go.

Denham’s second of the night edged the hosts back in front and Tadley felt they should have had a penalty soon after, but they were forced to settle for a point as Andover levelled from a hotly-debated corner.

Tadley manager Danny Dolan said: “I would have taken your arm off for a point before the game. I could not fault the commitment, work-rate, attitude and effort of my players.”

The result leaves Tadley 10th in the table ahead of a home game against New Milton Town, who are sixth, on Saturday.

“It’s going to be tough but we are at home,” Dolan added. “If we put in the same effort we have over the last two games, hopefully we will get something out of the game.”

Whitchurch United are up to sixth in the Premier Division after winning 3-1 at Lymington Town last night. They travel to bottom side Romsey Town on Saturday before travelling to Blackfield and Langley on Tuesday.
