Osvaldo starting to show his true worth - Lovren

Basingstoke Gazette: Dani Osvaldo celebrates his goal against City Dani Osvaldo celebrates his goal against City

Saints are now starting to see the best of record-signing Dani Osvaldo, according to Dejan Lovren.

The striker earned his side a point against Manchester City with a sublime goal, and has now scored in back-to-back games.

“It was an amazing goal and amazing performance,” said Lovren.

“He was working a lot this week and the last week.

“He knows that he needs to improve himself and now everybody sees the real face of him."

Lovren said it is not uncommon for Osvaldo to produce moments like the one against City when he is on the training pitch.

After a slow start to life at St Mary's, there are signs that some of that magic is now beginning to show when it matters most.

Lovren emphasised how valuable an addition he feels the former Roma man has been.

“We are really happy that we have Dani Osvaldo in our team,” he said.

“He has the character. It is a little bit strange character, but positive and in a good way, so we need him.”

Osvaldo moved to St Mary's in the summer, with the club agreeing a deal that could be worth as much as £14.6m.

Lovren said that the 27-year-old has fitted in extremely well with his new teammates since his arrival.

“Of course,” he said. “I think you need a little bit of time.

“He was in Italy, it’s not the same style of football, but now he’s had the time to improve himself here and he was very good (on Saturday).”

I think we will all start to see a lot more of Osvaldo. The only problem I can see is rickie not getting enough game time. The clock is ticking for Brazil and he will needs games if he wants to be on the plane

Yes he got a great goal on Saturday but then missed two setter for us to take the win, I do hope that this the turning point for DO but that still leaves GR when are we going to see him preform we got 1 point out of 9, that what I would top 6 performance we have a great team that has very little depth apart from paper, we have some great yonger players.
I think top 10 this season with a top 6 place next season then the next The Title my dream COYRS

@ Southampton boy

Gaston looked surprisingly up for it when he came on against Man City. I think the best we'll ever get out of him is for him to be an impact sub late.

Really delighted that Dani Osvaldo is delivering on the pitch. It would be good to see SRL smashing in goals as well like we know he can.

Looking back over the last few weeks - we had a ctitical game against Arsenal and IMO had the quality to come away form the Emirates with a draw.
2 individual errors cost the Team a chance to go second in the League Table.

It also broke the momentum of some very good performances and results.

WE CAN WIN against Arsenal at ST MARY'S.

Then came the Chelsea game - and a fantastic start. I have seen that before with JRod in the Cup game vs Chelsea where he has the ability to open them up.

I cannot accept the final score line. We are MUCH BETTER THAN THAT and WILL FIGHT to WIN at ST MARY's.

It's only Chelsea ffs, - same old JT with his predicable header on a set piece.
Last season Frank Lampard was not going to get a contract and JT was ready for the Knackers yard. NEXT TIME WE PLAY CHELSEA - WE WIN.

The Villa game came down to a lack of Research and tactical awareness.
Yes we had a third choice keeper - but Villa are dangerous on the break and we should have counted that and easily collected all 3 Points.

Our Last game - THE PLAYERS STOOD TALL - and made a name for themselves and collected a deserved point and could have got all 3.

The fact is we have got 1 point from a possible twelve - but STILL SIT ABOVE MANURE.

WE ARE THE MIGHTY SOUTHAMPTON.

The truth is we do not have Depth in our Squad and find it difficult when we sustain injuries or fight in different campaigns.

THE GAMES COME THICK AND FAST

Newcastle AWAY - BY STRENGTH AND GUILE - WE FIGHT AND WIN.

RED ARMY.
WE HATE POMPEY.

It's that the only question you've got? I didn't understand most of it but I reckon he's keeping up his general negativity.

It's odd that he starts with a negative load of bilge and then tries to redeem himself with a load of patronising clap trap. Just as well not bother as one negates the other.
