Basingstoke Gazette: Freddie Gleadowe scored the opening 'Stoke try Freddie Gleadowe scored the opening 'Stoke try

BASINGSTOKE RFC were left to rue their missed chances, as they lost 31-14 at Barnes in the National League Three London on Saturday.

Having conceded a converted try after just 20 seconds, the visitors had the better of the first-half and levelled things up on 22 minutes as Freddie Gleadowe went over and Andy Barnes kicked the conversion.

Soon after, ’Stoke’s Barnes kicked over a penalty for a 10-7 lead and it should have been more, but twice ’Stoke knocked on in good positions.

Barnes took advantage and led at the break 14-10.

’Stoke were soon back in front as Jobi Kochonowski scored a try, and Barnes kicked over the extras.

However, the home side piled on the pressure and despite good defence were able to score three tries the last in injury time to win the match 31-17.
